When it comes to high-class/low-brow quality entertainment,
nothing less will do than Austin's own "The Finer
Things". Raina "Lady Bangs" Leigh and "Surly" Joe
Jargon (a.k.a. Sick) are two classy characters, whose tremendous
talents run the gambit from vaudeville comedy, burlesque
and tap dance, and of course impeccable musicality.
Mixing new with old, expect to see the legendary Lady strum her ukulele and sing
like an angel while virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Joe bows a mean fiddle or
beats a guitar on original songs like "Tired of Being Admired", or covers such
as the Nine Inch Nails hit "Closer".
Both of these elite performers are members of Austin
based burlesque troupe the Carousel Cabaret.
Noteworthy
projects they've separately been or currently are members
of include "The Asylum Street Spankers", "Combo Mahalo", "Sick's
Pack", and "The 999 EYES - Carnival of
the Damned Freak Show", in styles such as Ragtime, Hawaiian
Swing, Punk infused Bluegrass and Dixieland, and yes,
a Vaudeville/Circus human oddity showcase.
Expect a
little of everything, so long as it's formidable, fabulous,
or fine!
